Fire Prevention Week 2019

Fire Prevention Week 2019

This year, Fire Prevention Week runs from October 6 to 12 and the theme is “Not every hero wears a cape. Plan and Practise your EscapeTM”. This year's campaign works to educate everyone about the small but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe from fire.

The topic of home fire escape planning and practise is an important one, because statistics show us that people have fewer than two minutes to escape a burning home. To help bring this and other fire and burn prevention information into the classroom, we are co-hosting a poster and video contest for students in kindergarten to grade seven with the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes for themselves and the entire class!

This contest is coordinated by the Office of the Fire Commissioner, Fire Prevention Officers’ Association of BC and BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund. It replaces the Fire Prevention Week contests you may have seen in previous years. Please see attached for complete details, entry information and prizes available.
