
This position is located in Prince George. Other BC Wildfire office locations within the Prince George
Fire Centre may be considered if operationally feasible.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per
week subject to an approved telework agreement. Flexible work options may not be available
during emergency operations response periods.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
Fire Centre Manager
$102,900.00 – $136,700.11 annually
The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) is the Province of BC’s primary emergency response organization. It
operates year-round to deliver its mandate for wildfire management and response to natural
hazard emergencies. The BCWS operates provincially, delivering services through six fire centres,
thirty-three zones and two provincial centres in Kamloops and Victoria.
The Fire Centre Manager will lead and manage the business and operational cycles (planning,
preparedness, prevention, detection, emergency response, fuel management, fire management,
compliance and enforcement, aviation, budget management and cost recoveries) for the regional
Fire Centre office and its Fire Zone bases. This position also oversees all regional Fire Centre human
resources and applies risk management practices to the deployment of all firefighting operations
and capital resources. The Fire Centre Manager exercises delegated statutory decision-making
authority to make determinations and apply appropriate administrative remedies.

Qualifications for this role include:
• University degree or technical diploma in a field related to forestry, natural resource
management, public administration and experience in a field related to forestry, natural
resource management, and public administration management; OR
• An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered; AND
• Senior management experience in wildfire management or an equivalent natural resource
management program.
